Assignment 1

This RSC is used for carrying apples and has interlocking flaps on the top. The entire box is covered in graphics, which could help with marketing. This feature definitely attracts the eyes. There are not too many boxes that are almost entirely blue. The top is called a "slit lock tuck top" and allows the top to be closed with out the use of adhesives (Paperboard Packaging Council).

This RSC is used as a shoe box. This RSC has a locked closure with a lock tab that slides into the lock slot (Paperboard Packaging Council). This RSC also has graphics that cover the entire box. The graphics, however, are dull colors that don't really stand out at all. The brown color used is not much different from plain corrugated.

This RSC is one of the most common RSCs. It is obviously designed for strength because it has to contain a TV. There are some graphics on it. There is a picture of the contents, as well as some information that describes what kind of features the TV has. These graphics can be used for marketing purposes as well, but there are usually display TVs in the stores. Therefore, the graphics are not all that bright or attractive.

This FC is called a tapered tray with gusset corners and locking cover panels. Obviously this is your standard Chinese food takeout container. The wire handle secures the gussets and helps with carrying the container. The graphics on the side have script that is associated with Asian products. The graphics are all one color and definitely fit the product (Paperboard Packaging Council).

This FC is the standard reverse tuck. According to the Paperboard Packaging Council the standard reverse tuck is "effective both as a hand set up and a machine formed carton." The graphics and colors are trademark Dunkin' Donuts graphics.

This FC is a partial overlap seal end. The top has a lock tab that slides into a lock slot after initial opening (Paperboard Packaging Council). The graphics are widely known and stand out on the isle because of the brand name and color.
